ALICE DALTON BROWN

Bio   

                                     

Alice Dalton Brown was born in Danville, Pennsylvania in 1939, and grew up in Ithaca, New York. She began her studies in France at L’Académie Julian, Paris and at L’Université de Grenoble, Grenoble. She then entered Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, as an English major, and later transferred to Oberlin College, Oberlin, Ohio, where, in 1962, she received the B.A. degree in art.

She lived in New York City from 1970 to 2005 and now resides in New York’s Hudson Valley and King Ferry, New York. A retrospective exhibition of her work was presented in 2013 by the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art, Cornell University, Ithaca, New York. In 2018, there was a solo exhibition of her work at The Butler Institute of American Art, Youngstown, Ohio.
