RETNA

 

RETNA, born Marquis Lewis, is a contemporary artist, widely recognized for his graffiti art and his style of geometric typography and letterforms. His unique style of typography is influenced by Gothic blackletter, Egyptian Hieroglyphics, Arabic and Hebrew with a mix of street graffiti. RETNA got his start as a graffiti artist as a teenager growing up in Los Angeles. RETNA has collaborated with the world’s top brands such as Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Nike. Additionally his work is featured on Justin Beiber’s album Purpose. RETNA has completed many commissioned murals in Los Angeles, Mexico City, Miami, New York, West Palm Beach and more. His work is exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art, an installation with two large scale murals, titled RETNA: Para mi gente. Additional exhibitions include L.A. Art Machine, Los Angeles, CA; Don Gallery in Milan, Italy; Yves Laroche Galerie d’Art in Montreal, Canada; Art for All in Malaga, Spain and more. The world renowned artist currently works and resides in Los Angeles.
