“To celebrate our country's 250th anniversary, Eckert Fine Art announces American Women, a show honoring the contributions female artists have made to the art world. For many years I dealt in 19th and early 20th century American art where I encountered incredibly talented but unknown women artists. Even those who attempted to make a living as an artist were told to stick to feminine subjects such as portraiture or still life, and not compete with their male counterparts. Although conditions have somewhat improved in modern times, many female artists are still overlooked and undervalued. It's been fulfilling for me to curate this show and showcase women across the United States- painters, sculptors, printmakers, and photographers—all revealing a unique perspective of their lives and the world they inhabit.”
